Han har skrivit så många bra Pogues-låtar, t ex Sally MacLennane, Fairytale of New York, The sick bed of Cuchulainn, Turkish song of the damned, The broad majestic Shannon, The body of an American, Streams of whiskey och If I should fall from grace with god. Solo har har bl a skrivit The church of holy spook, That woman's got me drinking och You're the one.
